Michael Cunningham is an American novelist, short-story writer, and screenwriter whose fiction often explores identity, family, sexuality, art, and the passage of time. He is the author of novels including A Home at the End of the World, Flesh and Blood, Specimen Days, By Nightfall, The Snow Queen, and The Hours, which won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and the PEN/Faulkner Award. He has also written short fiction, nonfiction, and screenplays, and teaches creative writing at Yale University.
