Viet Thanh Nguyen is a Vietnamese American novelist, short-story writer, essayist, memoirist, and literary scholar who came to the United States as a refugee in 1975. His debut novel, The Sympathizer, won the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, and he has also published The Committed, The Refugees, Nothing Ever Dies, A Man of Two Faces, and other works exploring war, memory, migration, identity, and the Vietnamese diaspora. He is a professor at the University of Southern California.
