Sandra Jackson-Opoku is an award-winning Chicago author, poet, novelist, screenwriter, and journalist whose work often explores the cultures and history of the African diaspora. She is the author of The River Where Blood Is Born and Hot Johnny and the Women Who Loved Him, and coedited Revise the Psalm: Work Celebrating the Writing of Gwendolyn Brooks. Her fiction, nonfiction, drama, and poetry have appeared widely, and her honors include a National Endowment for the Arts Fiction Fellowship and an American Library Association Black Caucus Award.
