Benjamín Labatut is a Chilean writer born in Rotterdam in 1980 who grew up in The Hague, Buenos Aires, and Lima before settling in Santiago. He began publishing with the short-story collection La Antártica empieza aquí (2009), followed by Después de la luz (2016), Un verdor terrible (2020), La piedra de la locura (2021), and MANIAC. His internationally translated work blends scientific and historical research with fiction to explore genius, madness, modernity, and the darker consequences of human discovery.
