Martin Amis (1949–2023) was an English novelist, essayist, memoirist, literary critic, and journalist. He began his fiction career with The Rachel Papers, which won the Somerset Maugham Award, and became known for ambitious, stylistically inventive novels such as Money, London Fields, The Information, and The Pregnant Widow. He also wrote acclaimed nonfiction, including the memoir Experience and the essay collection The War Against Cliché.
