Søren Aabye Kierkegaard (1813–1855) was a Danish philosopher, theologian, poet, and prolific religious author. Writing in both his own name and a wide range of pseudonyms, he produced philosophical treatises, devotional works, literary criticism, journals, and experimental fiction, including Fear and Trembling, Either/Or, and The Sickness Unto Death. His influential writings explored faith, anxiety, despair, individuality, and the challenges of Christian existence.
