Hideo Yokoyama (born 1957) is a Japanese novelist who worked for 12 years as a reporter at the regional Jomo Shimbun newspaper before becoming a full-time writer. He made his literary debut with the police-story collection Kage no kisetsu (Season of Shadows), which won the 1998 Matsumoto Seicho Prize; his novel Motive won the 2000 Mystery Writers of Japan Award. He is best known internationally for crime novels including Six Four, Prefecture D, Seventeen, and The North Light.
