Ernest Bramah Smith (1868–1942), who wrote as Ernest Bramah, was an English author who began in farming and journalism before becoming a full-time writer. He created the humorous fantasy storyteller Kai Lung and the influential blind amateur detective Max Carrados, whose mystery stories became his best-known work. Bramah also wrote political science fiction, supernatural fiction, humorous essays, and nonfiction on numismatics.
