Pete Earley is an American journalist and author who spent 14 years in journalism, including six years as a reporter for The Washington Post, before becoming a full-time author in 1986. He has written more than 20 books, including investigative nonfiction on crime, prisons, espionage, and mental health, as well as novels and political thrillers. His book Crazy was a 2007 Pulitzer Prize finalist, and The Hot House and Comrade J became New York Times bestsellers.
