Candace Bushnell is an American novelist and journalist whose writing career began with newspaper and magazine columns about New York nightlife, relationships, fashion, and sex. Her 1996 book Sex and the City, adapted from her New York Observer column, became the basis for the acclaimed HBO series and established her as a bestselling author. She went on to write novels including Trading Up, Lipstick Jungle, One Fifth Avenue, The Carrie Diaries, and Killing Monica, as well as nonfiction and social commentary.
