Mark Leiren-Young is a Canadian author, playwright, screenwriter, journalist, and filmmaker whose writing spans humor, memoir, environmental nonfiction, and books for young readers. He won the Stephen Leacock Medal for Humour for Never Shoot a Stampede Queen and a national science-writing award for The Killer Whale Who Changed the World. His recent work focuses especially on oceans, whales, sharks, octopuses, and environmental activism.
