Byron Graves is an Ojibwe and Lakota writer born and raised on the Red Lake Indian Reservation in Minnesota. Their debut young adult novel, Rez Ball (2023), is a coming-of-age sports story rooted in reservation life and won the William C. Morris Award and the American Indian Youth Literature Award. Their second novel, Medicine Wheels (2026), explores grief, identity, family, and healing through skateboarding; Graves also contributed to the anthology Legendary Frybread Drive-In.
