Christine Hartman Derr is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma and holds an MFA in Writing for Children from Vermont College of Fine Arts. She writes short and long-form literature for children and young adults, with work exploring identity, belonging, Indigenous representation, and the Cherokee language. Her writing appears in Just YA and Legendary Frybread Drive-In, and her debut middle-grade novel, Raven, Rising, was published by Heartdrum/HarperCollins Children’s.
