Ernest Howard (E. H.) Shepard (1879–1976) was an English illustrator, cartoonist, and occasional author. He built a long career illustrating classic and contemporary books and contributing cartoons to Punch, where he later became chief political cartoonist. His close collaboration with A. A. Milne produced the iconic illustrations for When We Were Very Young, Winnie-the-Pooh, Now We Are Six, and The House at Pooh Corner; he also wrote and illustrated memoirs including Drawn from Memory and Drawn from Life.
