Nathan Ballingrud is an American author whose writing career began with short fiction in the early 1990s. He is best known for the award-winning collections North American Lake Monsters and Wounds: Six Stories from the Border of Hell, and his novella The Visible Filth was adapted into the film Wounds. His first novel, The Strange, blends science fiction, alternate history, and the Western tradition; he lives in North Carolina.
