Michael Bennett is an award-winning Māori New Zealand screenwriter, filmmaker, and author. He began his book career with the nonfiction work In Dark Places, which won the Ngaio Marsh Award for Best Non-Fiction, followed by the young adult graphic novel Helen and the Go-Go Ninjas. His Hana Westerman series—Better the Blood, Return to Blood, and Carved in Blood—established him as an internationally published crime-thriller novelist.
