Jhumpa Lahiri is a British-American author of Indian Bengali heritage whose literary career began with the acclaimed short-story collection Interpreter of Maladies (1999), which won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. She has since written novels including The Namesake and The Lowland, short-story collections, essays, and memoir. Since 2015, Lahiri has also written fiction, essays, and poetry in Italian, translating some of her work into English herself.
