Liam O’Flaherty (1896–1984) was an Irish novelist and short-story writer associated with the Irish literary renaissance and socialist writing. He began publishing fiction in the 1920s, producing most of his novels and many of his short stories between 1923 and 1937. His work—including The Informer, Spring Sowing, and The Sniper—is known for stark realism, social criticism, Irish settings, and anti-war themes.
