Chen Qiufan (also known as Stanley Chan) is an award-winning Chinese science fiction writer, columnist, and screenwriter who began publishing in 1997. His debut novel, Waste Tide (2013), drew on his experiences near Guiyu’s e-waste recycling sites and established him internationally as a writer of science fiction realism. He later co-authored AI 2041 with Kai-Fu Lee and left the technology industry in 2017 to write full-time.
